About
Here is the scoop… my memory is failing and it isn’t just getting old sort of failure it is a bit more serious than that. So in preparation for what is likely to happen in the future I have started creating a set of rules to live by… now I know we all live by our own set of rules, but very few people take the time to actually verbalise them and right them down. I think what I am trying to say it is one thing to say you live by a set of rules and another thing to actually live by a set of rules.
When your memory fails, the written rules come in handy. Every morning I open up my computer or in this case open up my paper notes and go over them to remind me, to refresh me, so that I don’t miss an opportunity to do those things I consider important to me.
I don’t want to sound morbid or sad about this future, because truthfully it has it’s upsides. For example, I can laugh at old jokes again. I can meet new people every day. I can laugh at old jokes again.
My son said when he found out my situation said, good I can throw rocks at you now… I said why? He said because you won’t know what hit you!
He didn’t… I just found that funny, and one of my rules is the funny is vital!
Seriously, it does have its upside. These rules for life are really making a difference! I wouldn’t be here on this adventure without these rules!
So each video I do on these rides will include just one rule on my list: If you don’t like that… move on and probably just fast forward to the part where this fat old man falls off his bike… or I forget to put my pants on and ride off… who knows what will happen! The last trip involved a small motorcycle fire and being stranded out on the Birdsville track in 46 degree heat with no fuel without a anyone around as it was the 2 of January… no normal person is out there then!

FAQ

Most motorcyclist tend to navigate via pubs or landmarks. I tend to navigate via bakeries. So, if you ride with me expect a few stops to sample the local pies. I also consider myself a bit of a chicken parma specialist.
What sort of distances do you cover on your rides?
The local ride for me is trip out to Nindigully pub to sample the burger below around 600 kilometers for me. However, my once a year ride for the Australian Speedway Championships covers 4 states and is often close to 10,000 kilometers long.
What type of rides do you ride?
I will ride any sort of terrain from crossing the Simpson desert to major highways. It all depends on if I have friends with me and what they would like to do.
Do you do track days?
Yes, I do, but those days are getting numbered. I’m afraid my dementia and shakes are affecting my riding. I consider my track bike to be a community bike, so if you are interested in doing a track day with me. I’m more than happy to share the bike but only if we aren’t in the same group. If you become a regular with the bike I do ask at the end of the year you chip in to help purchase a new set of slicks
Why the wobbly donkey name?
Well it is simple… Adam Riemann has the war horse and can ride like a legend. I ride like a fat old man with dementia with more of a wobbly fashion. The way I ride is more donkey like. Hence the wobbly donkey.
